Mission Statement of the Chico Creek Task Force

The purpose of this non-profit corporation is promote a safe and ecologically sound home for current and future residents of the Chico Creek watershed and associated waterfront area. To this end, the Chico Creek Task Force shall:

  • Educate people living, working, and recreating in the Chico Creek watershed and associated shoreline areas about the ecology of the watershed, with the aim of increasing awareness of how human activities impact the natural environment.
  • Preserve the natural environment  by acting as stewards of the natural areas of the watershed.
  • Facilitate opportunities for public involvement in land use decisions and strive to achieve compatible wildlife and human uses of the watershed.
  • Encourage restoration and enhancement of degraded riparian and stream habitat by supporting ongoing efforts and seeking new opportunities for projects on public and private land.
  • Promote safe outdoor and recreational use of the watershed by advocating an increase of available trails and other public recreation areas.
  • Promote safe non-polluting vehicular access through populated areas of the Chico Creek Watershed and promote enhanced neighborhood communications of safety-related issues.
  • Build partnerships with agencies and NGO’s to allow for increasingly more effective public education on environmental issues.  Scarce resources can be conserved through collaboration. Organizations and agencies can share skills and experience in a way that builds a consistent approach to improving water quality and wildlife habitat in the Chico Creek watershed.
